Johanna is currently a Junior Penetration Tester at SecPro. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Computer Science from Park University in December of 2020. Soon after she discovered TryHackMe's Advent of Cyber challenge and fell in love with cybersecurity. As she continued her studies, she realized this is where she belonged. In July of 2021, she was granted a scholarship to SANS Cyber Diversity Academy. While attending SANS she obtained three industry certifications including GSEC, GCIH, and GPEN. Most recently she participated in the WiCyS cyber defense challenge made possible by Target, which ignited her interest in malware analysis and cyber investigations.
Johanna gives back to the community by volunteering her time whenever possible. She has been a volunteer as a Cyber Competitions Coordinator for the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu for over a year. She enjoys competing in Capture the Flag events as much as possible and encourages others to compete to get more hands-on experience and aid their learning process. Most recently she became a volunteer for Raices Cyber Org, where she will be the Virginia Chapter Director. She also volunteers as needed for other organizations, such as Black Hat and B-SidesNoVa.
She is an active member of Women's Society of Cyberjutsu, Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), and Raices Cyber Org. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs, exercising, birdwatching, camping, hiking, and learning anything cyber.
