Vanessa Bourgeois
CHAPTER DIRECTOR
Vanessa brings over 30 years of Systems Engineering and Cybersecurity across many industries including Department of Defense, Scientific Space Programs, Telecom, Healthcare, Cable and Mobile. She has supported organizations in strategic planning, product and services development, risk management and compliance policy enforcement, audits, international market expansion, and workforce training.
Vanessa’s experience in the Cybersecurity field encompasses Security Operations, Incident Response, Network provisioning, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning, Federal Certification and Accreditation in FISMA, FedRAMP, and tScheme ISO 27001 compliance. Additionally, she has managed healthcare security in COVID patient portal development.
Vanessa is passionate about inspiring individuals to live their best life through education, community, and mentoring. She is a Project Management Institute (PMI) coaching pod leader, an adjunct professor, and a volunteer in DELL “Coding for Good” ERG. She mentors Dell college interns every year to support those entering engineering and cyber careers.
Work-life balance is important to Vanessa who enjoys long distance cycling, running, golf, gourmet cooking, meditation, being a bird mom to her parrots, and volunteering in the community.

Kevin Gonzalez Rojas
SDSU Student Chapter Director
Kevin will be graduating from the Homeland Security (M.S.) program at San Diego State University this summer. He is primarily interested in satellite cybersecurity and aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in a related academic field.
Some cybersecurity-related courses he has taken at SDSU include Cyber Warfare & Cyber Terrorism, Cyber Crime & Infrastructure Security, Intel Analysis & Data Fusion, and Principles of Information Systems. Kevin was also admitted into the Cybersecurity Management (M.S.) program at SDSU and is scheduled to start in Fall 2023.
Kevin is also a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, where he has proudly served for over seven and a half years. He also enjoys serving his community; he has volunteered over 1,200 hours as a Disaster Duty Officer with the American Red Cross and continues to volunteer as a K-9 decoy with the Transportation Security Administration. A highlight for Kevin is he received the American Red Cross Impact Award in May 2023 for his outstanding service to the Red Cross.
Staying productive is important to Kevin, who enjoys reading books, listening to podcasts, going on long-distance runs, traveling, and spending time with his family in his free time.
